Where Glass Loves Light: Meet Artist & Owner Lauren Delsignore

Lauren Delsignore, Artist & Owner brings a rare blend of compassion, curiosity, and creative mastery to every piece she makes at Shard Glass Studio, located in The Agawam Mill Artist Studios in West Warwick, RI.

Before discovering stained glass, Lauren spent over two decades in service-oriented careers, first in social services where she ran group homes and supported individuals with psychiatric disabilities, and then in home healthcare administration. Through these years she developed deep patience, empathy, and an appreciation for the power of human connection.

In 2013, Lauren enrolled in her first stained glass class and fell in love. What began as a way to carve out peaceful focus from a busy life quickly became a meditation in color, light, and intention. By 2017 she had opened her own studio for personal creative work and custom commissions. Soon after, in 2019, she began teaching classes in the Louis Comfort Tiffany copper foil method of stained glass construction, sharing her passion and expertise while helping others explore this timeless art form.

Lauren’s commitment to her craft has expanded steadily. In 2023 she added repair and restoration services. From windows and doors to historic church installations, she has blended technical skill with artistic integrity. A highlight of her restoration work was creating 15 handcrafted crosses for the restoration of the church doors at Our Lady of Mercy in East Greenwich. She recently completed refurbishment of a window from Notre Dame Cathedral in Worcester, MA, now installed in a private chapel - an honor that speaks to her precision and respect for stained glass heritage.

Lauren further deepened her artistic skills through apprenticeship with Rhode Island stained glass artist Christopher Foster on the Adelaide Church Renovation in Providence, RI. Foster’s studio tradition dates back to the mid-1960s and he is known in the region for finely crafted stained and leaded glass commissions and restorations.

Active in RI’s creative community, Lauren participated in DesignXRI’s DESIGN WEEK RI in both 2024 and 2025, a statewide celebration of design that connects makers, creatives, and entrepreneurs while spotlighting the diversity and vibrancy of the local design sector. DESIGNxRI is a nonprofit that supports and nurtures Rhode Island’s design talent through events, programs, and professional growth opportunities.

In December 2024, Lauren took the bold step of leaving her property management career to run Shard Glass Studio full-time, turning her calling into her livelihood! Her journey from caregiver to artisan and instructor reflects not only artistic growth but a belief that creativity is for everyone. You simply have to set aside fear and take the leap!
